Supplementary Report: Ballarat 5 February 2018.

GRV Stewards inquired into the late scratching of Al’s In Trouble from Race 3 at Ballarat on 5 February 2018.  Al’s In Trouble was withdrawn by Trainer Mr David Graham at 10.27am on the morning of the race, due to illness. After taking evidence from Mr Graham, GRV Stewards issued a charge under GAR 23 (1) (a) in that Mr Graham failed to examine Al’s In Trouble prior to the appointed scratching time of 8.30am, on the day of the race, to ensure the greyhound was free of injury, illness or was on-season. Mr Graham pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $200. When determining penalty, stewards took into consideration Mr Graham good record, guilty plea, his personal antecedence and the forthright manner in which he conducted himself, before the Stewards. Against these factors, stewards considered the need for general deterrence and that a reserve was therefore denied a start in the race. Save for Mr Graham’s mitigating factors, the penalty for this offence would be nominally higher.

Stewards spoke to Mr Wayne Vassalio, the trainer of Buy Me Diamonds regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Buy Me Diamonds last raced on 11 November 2017. Mr Vassalio stated that the greyhound was resuming following an injury to its left fibular.

Mahjong Magic was quick to begin.  Keisha's Boy and Hard Man Chapta were slow to begin.  Miss Manuka checked off Keisha's Boy soon after the start.  Hard Man Chapta and Miss Manuka collided approaching the first turn.  Mahjong Magic checked off Buy Me Diamonds approaching the home turn.  Keisha's Boy and Hard Man Chapta raced wide on the home turn.  Dynamic Ross checked off Mahjong Magic approaching the winning post.

Hard Man Chapta was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained spike wounds to the left hind leg, a 3 day down period was imposed.

Blond Annie  was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained spike wounds to the left hind leg.  No stand down period was imposed.

Dyna Layla crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Kitboolou Ragsy, Big Black John, Axel's A Rebel, Dyna Francine and Dyna Adria.  Dyna Zeni, Dyna Adria and Dyna Francine collided approaching the first turn, checking Dyna Adria and Dyna Francine.  Kitboolou Ragsy galloped on the heels of Big Black John on the first turn.  Axel's A Rebel checked off Kitboolou Ragsy approaching the home turn.  Dyna Francine and Big Black John collided on the home turn, checking Big Black John.  Dyna Zeni galloped on the heels of Kitboolou Ragsy on the home turn.

Big Black John was vetted following the event, and after being re-vetted following race 4, it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right back muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Cruisy's Angle was quick to begin.  Rockin' Joe crossed to the outside soon after the start and raced wide throughout the event.  Tyson's A Rebel and Dynamic Street collided approaching the first turn.  Cruisy's Angle raced wide on the home turn.  Muzzle Welsh checked off Johnny McKenley in the home straight.

Dee Dee One was quick to begin.  Dyna Zoron was slow to begin.  Double Explosion and Dee Dee One collided approaching the first turn, checking Double Explosion.  Forever Cousins, Double Explosion and Dee Dee One collided on the first turn, checking Dee Dee One and Flying Storm.  Flying Storm checked off Dee Dee One approaching the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr C McClennan and reminded him of his responsibilities regarding the boxing of his greyhound.

A pre race sample was taken from Tiarna Keeping.

She's Wicked and Dyna Bobbi collided soon after the start.  Tiarna Keeping, She's Wicked and Dyna Bobbi collided approaching the first turn.  Dyna Bobbi checked off She's Wicked on the first turn, checking Shadowman and Bundarra Magic.  She's Wicked and Swift Trent collided approaching the home turn.  Swift Trent and Bundarra Magic collided in the home straight.

Tuscan Dream was a late scratching at 8.29pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to a possible seizure. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Nike Viper was slow to begin.  Chevsta and Lightning Frank collided approaching the first turn, checking Chevsta.  Chevsta checked off Little Toby on the first turn.  Starlight Jill crossed to the rail on the first turn, checking Little Toby and severely checking Kalahari Sands.  Chevsta and Nike Viper collided entering the home straight.

Kalahari Sands was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right hip, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Lightning Frank - the winner of the event.

Stewards spoke to Mr Craig Treherne, the trainer of the greyhound Tuscan Dream regarding the greyhounds late scratching.  Acting under GAR 74 stewards stood down Tuscan Dream from racing until the greyhound passes a satisfactory trial and veterinary examination. 

Tritt Tritt was quick to begin.  Blusain Bolt, Zipping Angus and Crymelon Kit collided on the first turn, checking Zipping Angus.  Crymelon Kit and Blusain Bolt collided entering the back straight, severely checking Blusain Bolt.

Blusain Bolt was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right thigh, right quadriceps, right pencil muscle, right triangle and right hip, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Tritt Tritt - the winner of the event.

Black Spyro and Dyna Chancer collided approaching the first turn, checking Dyna Chancer.  Hecton Bale, Nangar Warrior and My Redeemer collided approaching the first turn, checking Nangar Warrior.  True Talent, My Redeemer and Dyna Chancer collided on the first turn, checking True Talent and Nangar Warrior.  Nangar Warrior checked off Dyna Zervo on the first turn.  Dyna Chancer galloped on the heels of Zipping Bale entering the home straight, causing Dyna Chancer to race wide.

Samples were taken from Hecton Bale (1st) and Black Spyro (2nd).

Mr Sheldon Hamilton, trainer of Pat Malone declared a new weight of 33.1 kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Pat Malone last raced at 31.1kg.

Mahjong Heat and Foxy Molly were slow to begin.  High Water and Miss Pepperjack collided approaching the first turn, checking High Water.  Mahjong World and Foxy Molly collided approaching the first turn, severely checking Mahjong World.  Quando Quando and Miss Pepperjack collided on the first turn, checking Miss Pepperjack.  High Water and Bally Beckham collided approaching the home turn, checking Bally Beckham and Foxy Molly.

Cappuccino, Mahlo Blackhawk and Tiggerlong Cruz collided soon after the start, checking Cappuccino and Tiggerlong Cruz.  Winlock Strecker crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Ikon Parker and Kiss Me Boss.  Flying Action, Ikon Parker and Kiss Me Boss collided approaching the first turn, checking Ikon Parker and Kiss Me Boss.  Kiss Me Boss, Ikon Parker and Cappuccino collided on the first turn, checking Kiss Me Boss.  Ikon Parker and Cappuccino collided approaching the home turn, checking Ikon Parker.  Mahlo Blackhawk and Tiggerlong Cruz collided in the home straight, checking Mahlo Blackhawk.

Stewards spoke to Ms S Thomas, the trainer of Umar Allen regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Umar Allen last raced on 26 October 2017. Ms Thomas stated that the greyhound was resuming from an injury to its left hamstring.

A pre race sample was taken from Scott Cosmic.

Umar Allen, Tai Chi Mini and Mahjong Baby collided soon after the start.  Teflon Travis and Scott Cosmic collided approaching the first turn, checking Scott Cosmic.  Umar Allen checked off Tai Chi Mini on the first turn, checking Night Hawk.  Night Hawk checked off Umar Allen approaching the home turn.  Gomez Sanchez and Anustar collided in the home straight.  Tai Chi Mini and Mahjong Baby collided in the home straight.  Gomez Sanchez raced wide in the home straight.

Kiss Me Nicki and Crazy Jo Jo were quick to begin.  Blackpool Donny, Another What and Trianna collided approaching the first turn, checking Trianna.  Crazy Jo Jo checked off Zipping Mack on the first turn.  Dyna Denver and Another What collided approaching the home turn, checking Trianna and severely checking Another What.

Another What was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sutained spike wounds to the right hindleg.  No stand down period was imposed.

Allen Quintus was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound cramped.  No stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to G Dailly, the handler of the greyhound Allen Quintus.  Acting in accordance with GAR 71 (Cramp), Stewards directed that the greyhound must perform a Satisfactory Trial before any future nomination will be accepted.
