Steward's Report

Stewards spoke to Mr David Geall, the trainer of Bombora Comet, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Bombora Comet last raced on 9 November 2017.  Mr Geall stated that the greyhound is resuming racing after a change of kennel.

This meeting was deemed ‘hot weather affected’, prior to the running of this event the outside temperature was 31.2 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.5 degrees.

A pre-race sample was taken from All Inn Bluebell.

Shining Opal was quick to begin.  Flaming Elite, Lektra Lucy and Bombastic Tim collided soon after the start.  Shining Opal raced wide approaching the first turn.  Flaming Elite lost ground approaching the first turn and tailed off.  Lektra Lucy raced wide on the home turn.  Shining Opal raced wide in the home straight.

Flaming Elite was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hindleg triangle injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr Alan Bayliss, the trainer of the greyhound Flaming Elite.  Stewards deemed the performance of Flaming Elite unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Flaming Elite must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
