Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr Patrick Newell, the trainer of Blue Magnum, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Blue Magnum last raced on 24 July 2017. Mr Newell stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right metatarsal injury. Mr Newell also declared a new weight of 28.0kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Blue Magnum last raced at 26.6kg.
A pre-race sample was taken from Marodo.
Blue Magnum was slow to begin.
Slipaway Anna and Djarragun collided soon after the start, checking Djarragun. Swiftly Swift and Slipaway Anna collided approaching the first turn, checking Slipaway Anna. Slipaway Anna and Blue Magnum collided approaching the home turn. Two Mississippi, Swiftly Swift, Poison Pen and Kosmik King collided approaching the home turn, checking Swiftly Swift. Poison Pen checked off Kosmik King approaching the home turn, checking Poison Pen and Swiftly Swift. Blue Magnum checked off Swiftly Swift in the home straight.
Kosmik King was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a tarsal sprain to the right hock. A ten-day stand down period was imported.
Stewards spoke to Mr Lyle Bridges regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound Kosmik King. Stewards directed that Kosmik King be boxed first in future events.
