Stewards were advised that the track was top dressed, harrowed and graded on Thursday 28 December 2017.

Broken Axle and Pyrenees Classic were slow to begin.

Gold Crusher and Akut collided approaching the first turn, checking Gold Crusher. Shore Money checked off Cherokee Thunder on the first turn. Broken Axle, Regal Memphis and Cherokee Thunder collided on the first turn, checking Regal Memphis, Akut and Pyrenees Classic, and severely checking Shore Money. Regal Memphis and Akut collided on the home turn, checking both greyhounds.

Shore Money was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a tarsal sprain to the left hock. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.

Just Curious was slow to begin.

Tolerance checked off Why Not Kylie on the first turn. Tolerance checked off Tiger Frost entering the back straight. Why Not Kylie and Tiger Frost collided approaching the second turn, checking Why Not Kylie. Zelemar Jim, Just Curious and Tolerance collided on the second turn, checking Just Curious and Tolerance. Tiger Frost and Pinciotti collided in the home straight, checking Pinciotti.

Stewards spoke to Mr Paul McColl, the trainer of Spa Vulpix, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Spa Vulpix last raced on 23rd July 2017.  Mr McColl stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a spell. Mr McColl also declared a new weight of 28.2 kg weight for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Spa Vulpix last raced at 26.8 kg. 

Stewards spoke to Mr Aaron Setford, the trainer of Maretto, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Maretto last raced on 5th September 2017.  Mr Setford stated the greyhound was returning to racing after a spell.

Star Cluster and Why Not Dean were slow to begin.

Rhino Rex, Spa Vulpix, Star Cluster and Dynamo Jezz collided soon after the start. Aeroplane Hank and Rhino Rex collided approaching the first turn, checking Aeroplane Hank. Aeroplane Hank and Star Cluster collided approaching the home turn. Dynamo Jezz and Spa Vulpix collided on the home turn. Rhino Rex and Bomber's Return collided entering the home straight and several times in the home straight.

Nukstar was a late scratching at 12.05pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to illness. A seven-day stand down period was imposed.

Aston Amore was slow to begin.

Geopark Ruby and Why Not Archie collided soon after the start. Why Not Archie and Xerox Letter collided soon after the start. Aston Amore checked off Keely Run on the first turn, checking Why Not Archie, Xerox Letter and Geopark Ruby.

Why Not Trish was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a carpal sprain of the right wrist. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.

She's Wicked and Reverend John collided approaching the first turn, checking Reverend John. Hold On Belena checked off Dontron approaching the first turn. Allen Arlovski checked off Reverend John on the first turn. Onya Grover raced wide entering the home straight.

Northern Nangar was slow to begin.

Onya Teddy and Swift Trent collided soon after the start and again on the first turn, checking Onya Teddy. Scarecrow Max and Northern Nangar collided in the home straight. White Ambush and Rapid Mission collided in the home straight.

Canya Wilber was a late scratching at 10.23am due to illness (GAR 23). A ten-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Storm Train and Koitsenko collided soon after the start. Storm Train, Koitsenko and Cosmic George collided on the first turn. Medika and Take My Money collided approaching the home turn, severely checking Take My Money. Storm Train checked off Koitsenko approaching the home turn. Storm Train checked off Medika entering the home straight. Pyrenees Inferno and Destini Comet collided in the home straight, checking Pyrenees Inferno.

Corleone and Ernie's Legacy were quick to begin. Proven Les and Pop Do It were slow to begin.

Corleone checked off Ernie's Legacy approaching the home turn, checking Dangerwood and Coolatai Lass. Dangerwood checked off Corleone approaching the home turn. Harvey Mills checked off Coolatai Lass approaching the home turn. Dangerwood checked around Corleone in the home straight.

Secret Business and On Billy's Wings collided soon after the start. Doyen King checked off On Billy's Wings approaching the home turn. On Billy's Wings and Destini Trucker collided approaching the home turn. Destini Trucker checked off On Billy's Wings in the home straight.

Blue Afro and Beyond The Vally collided soon after the start. Destini Pegasus, Kingsley Boy and Chelsea Drogba collided approaching the first turn. Kingsley Boy and Chelsea Drogba collided on the first turn, checking Kingsley Boy. Kiss Me Boss and Hodge's Lane collided on the first turn, checking Hodge's Lane. Chelsea Drogba and Spring Saviour collided approaching the home turn, checking Spring Savior.

MEETING COMMENTS

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Keith Lloyd, the kennel representative for Keep On Runnin', regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Keep On Runnin' last raced on June 19th, 2017. Mr Lloyd stated that the greyhound had been recovering from a toe injury. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Keep On Runnin' trialled over the 390m from box one, weight 35.1kg; the greyhound was placed second in a field of four. The time of the trial was 22.71, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 2.25L. Keep On Runnin' was cleared.
