Prior to this event the outside temperature was 26.4 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.1 degrees.
Zipping Buck was slow to begin. Lockrod and Hecton Bale collided soon after the start. Zipping Buck checked off Hecton Bale on the first turn. Hecton Bale and Lockrod collided on the first turn, checking Lockrod. Dyna Bitey raced wide in the home straight. Too The Nail eased in the home straight.
Too The Nail was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mrs Kelly Bravo, the handler of the greyhound Too The Nail, who declined to have the greyhound revetted, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Too The Nail with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs Bravo pleaded guilty to the charge, Too The Nail was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
