This meeting has been declared a heat affected meeting. The kennel temperature at 10.45am 18.5 degrees and outside temperature 27.8 degrees.
Kennel temperature prior to this race was 18 degrees; the outside temperature 29.2 degrees.
Shadow Kissed and Barge Bale were slow to begin.
Dyna Xanna and Royal Solo collided soon after the start, checking Barge Bale. Blue Vegas, Royal Solo and Dyna Xanna collided soon after the start. Kiss Me Putu and Stinga's Mate collided approaching the first turn, checking Dyna Xanna. Barge Bale and Royal Solo collided on the first turn, checking Dyna Xanna. Barge Bale and KIss Me Putu collided in the back straight on several occassions. Stinga's Mate and Blue Vegas collided approaching the third turn. Stinga's Mate checked off Dyna Alice approaching the home turn. Barge Bale marred the running of Kiss Me Putu approaching the home turn, on the home turn and in the home straight. Dyna Xanna and Shadow Kissed collided on the home turn.
Kiss Me Putu was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No stand down period was imposed.
Barge Bale was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right gracilis (back) muscle. A five-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Mark Delbridge, the trainer of the greyhound Barge Bale, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the back straight, approaching and on the home turn, and in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Barge Bale with marring. Mr Delbridge pleaded guilty to the charge, Barge Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
