Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Bluehawk Ralph.
Talbragar River was quick to begin. Akina Blitz and Spring Rain were slow to begin. Ark Lightning and Mia Brae collided approaching the first turn. Sisco Knight and Akina Blitz collided approaching the first turn, checking Akina Blitz. Ark Lightning and Mia Brae collided on the second turn, severely checking Akina Blitz and Ark Lightning. Akina Blitz and Ark Lightning collided entering the back straight, checking Ark Lighning. Sisco Knight and Radiant Angel collided approaching the third turn, checking both greyhounds. Spring Rain checked off Sisco Knight on the third turn, severely checking Spring Rain and Mia Brae; causing both greyhounds to race wide as a result. Spring Rain and Bluehawk Ralph collided on the home turn, checking Bluehawk Ralph and Ark Lightning. Spring Rain veered out and marred Mia Brae in the home straight.
Spring Rain was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the right deltoid and right trapezuis muscles, a ten day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Howell, the trainer of the greyhound Spring Rain regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Spring Rain with marring. Mr. Howell pleaded guilty to the charge, Spring Rain was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
