Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Cooper, the trainer of Crackerjack Doug regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Crackerjack Doug last raced on 4 May, 2017. Mr. Cooper stated that the greyhound was resuming racing due to a change of kennel.
Tubark and Broulee Miss collided soon after the start. Tubark, Broulee Miss, Fabstar and Mallee Spring collided approaching the first turn. Tubark and Broulee Miss collided approaching the home turn. Fabstar galloped on the heels of Mallee Spring on the home turn checking Mallee Spring. Lunar Shadow and Ginger Menang collided on the home turn. Marlee Spring and Tubark collided entering the home straight. Fabstar raced wide in the home straight. Crackerjack Doug and Mallee Spring collided in the home straight.
