Steward's Report
Feikuai George was a late scratching at 11:35am due to illness (GAR 23). A ten-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
An Out of Competition sample was taken from Reign Of Omar, engaged in this event, on 17th October 2017 pursuant to GAR 79A.
Reign Of Omar was slow to begin.
Reign Of Omar crossed to the rail soon after the start. Vital Force, Fess Crockett and Argus Filch collided soon after the start, checking Vital Force. Dyna Evelyn and Loch Tight collided soon after the start. Fess Crockett checked off Loch Eddie approaching the first turn. Vital Force, Fess Crockett and Argus Filch collided on the first turn, checking Vital Force and Fess Crockett. Reign Of Omar checked off Loch Eddie on the first turn and again on the second turn. Reign Of Omar and Argus Filch collided in the back straight, checking Reign Of Omar. Vital Force and Argus Filch collided on the third turn, checking Vital Force. Argus Filch eased on the third turn, severely checking Fess Crockett. Reign Of Omar clipped the heels of Vital Force on the third turn, severely checking Reign Of Omar which fell as a result and checked Vital Force.
Reign Of Omar was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a dislocated right fore toe. A 60-day stand down period was imposed.
Argus Filch was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. Stewards spoke to Mr Jason Sharp, the kennel representative for the greyhound Argus Filch, regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the third turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Argus Filch with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Sharp pleaded guilty to the charge, Argus Filch was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for three months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
