Steward's Report

Mr J. Barbara, trainer of Sweet Ambush declared a new weight of 27.7 for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Sweet Ambush last raced at 26.0.

Pursuant to GAR 104(6) Catching Pen attendant Mr S. Courts did not act in any official capacity for this event.

Buckle Up Leo was slow to begin.

Calabrese Bullet and Beers On Us collided soon after the start checking Beers On Us.  Sweet Ambush and Go Zippy Go collided approaching the first turn.  Buckle Up Leo galloped on Mega McKayla approaching the first turn checking Buckle Up Leo, Koitsenko, Go Zippy Go, Beers On Us and severely checking Mega McKayla which brushed the running rail.  Koitsenko and Go Zippy Go collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Remo Maggie and Sweet Ambush collided on the home. Sweet Ambush failed to pursue the lure with due commitment on the home turn.  Remo Maggie and Sweet Ambush collided turn entering the home straight.

Remo Maggie was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury.

Mega McKayla was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right triangle injury, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Sweet Ambush was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Mr J. Barbara, the handler of the greyhound Sweet Ambush regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Sweet Ambush with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Barbara declined a re-vet and pleaded guilty to the charge, Sweet Ambush was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
