Iona Roby crossed to the outside soon after the start.  Kauai and Shrek's Typhoon collided on the first turn.  Iona Roby and Cherokee Shimmer collided on the first turn and again approaching the home turn.  Middle Trucker and Shrek's Typhoon collided on the home turn.

Iona Roby was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Kauai was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained left scapula fracture, a 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Mr G. Carter, trainer of Why Not Becky declared a new weight of 28.8kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Why Not Becky last raced at30.4kgs.

Stewards spoke to Mr G. Carter, the trainer of Why Not Becky regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Why Not Carter last raced on10th March 2017.Mr Carter stated that the greyhound was returning from weight issues.

Spokane Flick was slow to begin.

Crime Minister crossed to the rail on the first turn checking Pacific Beach and Why Not Becky.  Spokane Flick and Why Not Becky collided on the first turn.

Toss The Dice was quick to begin.  Penny Black and Razorback Black were slow to begin.

Custom Mint was a late scratching at 5.27pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Ms K. Smyth was fined the sum of $100.

Whiney Whine was quick to begin.  Sarashan was slow to begin.

Miss Barossa checked off Jacqui Shoshone on the first turn causing Miss Barossa to gallop on Pure Cascade checking Buckle Up York and severely checking Miss Barossa and Pure Cascade.  Jacqui Shoshone checked off Issy Keats on the first turn.  Jacqui Shoshane and Apache Flame collided approaching the home turn.  Jacqui Shoshone checked off Issy Keats in the home straight.

Azza was slow to begin.

Silvagni Cubed and Miss Dozer collided approaching the first turn.  King Of Merrimu, Silvagni Cubed and Miss Dozer collided on the first turn checking Silvagni Cubed and Miss Dozer.

Careless Cookie was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left hind achilles abrasion, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Mr G. Graham, trainer of Woodleigh Sal declared a new weight of 25.9kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Woodleigh Sal last raced at 24.8kgs.

Petite Harbour was quick to begin.  Lady Alliance and Manila Traffic were slow to begin.

Mini Tron was quick to begin.

Lil Bit Awesome checked off Mini Tron on the first turn.  Lucky's Spirit raced wide entering the home straight.

The greyhound Lucky's Spirit wore the incorrect rug (5) and competed from the incorrect box (5) in this event. Pursuant GAR 64(1), the greyhound was disqualified from this event. The greyhound should have competed in rug 4 out of box 4.

Stewards conducted an inquiry into Lucky Spirit wearing the incorrect race rug and starting from the incorrect box.  Stewards subsequently charged Mr P. Repici with a breach of GAR 86(O) in that he negligently placed Lucky Spirit in the incorrect race rug and in the incorrect starting box.  Mr Repici pleaded guilty to the charge and was subsequently fined the sum of $150 which was wholly suspended for 12 months pending no further breach of GAR 86(O).  In assessing penalty, Stewards considered and took into account Mr Repici's longevity in the industry with no similar offences, also the fact this was a qualifying trial, Stewards advised Mr Repici if this type of incident occurred at a stakes meeting, no consideration would have been given to wholly suspending the fine. 

All club staff and Stewards involved in this incident have been referred to their Managers.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Deadwood Kate trialled over the 311mtrs from box 5, weight 26.4kgs, the greyhound was placed 4th in a field of 5. The time of the trial was 18.66, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 3.75 lengths. Deadwood Kate was Cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Poscha's Girl trialled over the 311mtrs from box 6, weight 24.7kgs, the greyhound was placed 5th in a field of 5. The time of the trial was 18.66, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4.00 lengths. Porscha's Girl was Cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Iona Cape trialled over the 311mtrs from box 8, weight 31.4kgs, the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 5. The time of the trial was 18.66, the greyhound won by a margin of 1.25 lengths. Iona Cape was Cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr J. Van-Konynenburg, the trainer of Definitely Two regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Definitely Two last raced on 12th December 2016. Mr Van-Konynenburg stated that the greyhound was returning from a spell and new trainer. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Definitely Two trialled over the 311mtrs from box 2, weight 28.2kgs, the greyhound was placed 3rd in a field of 5. The time of the trial was 18.66, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 2.50 lengths. Definitely Two was Cleared.
