A pre race sample was taken from Gothamburg.
Sub Zero Magic and Pictish Mark were quick to begin. Heartbreak Hotel was slow to begin.
Mepunga Bonnie and Lektra Guiseppe collided soon after the start, checking Lektra Guiseppe. Pictish Mark checked off Gothamburg approaching the first turn. Pictish Mark, Gothamburg, Heartbreak Hotel and Lektra Guiseppe collided approaching the first turn, checking Gothamburg and severely checking Heartbreak Hotel and Lektra Guiseppe. Heartbreak Hotel faltered on the first turn and subsequently tailed off.
Heartbreak Hotel was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right thigh. A 21 day stand down period was imposed
