Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Wellington, the trainer of Course You Will, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Course You Will last raced on 17th May, 2017. Mr. Wellington stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a torn back muscle injury and after being on season.

Course You Will checked off Merl's Blaze soon after the start. Avatrar Rebel checked off Ima Sapphire approaching the first turn. Eden Lass and Merl's Blaze collided approaching the home turn. Avatar Dodge and Glass Half Full collided on the home turn and several times in the home straight, checking Avatar Dodge. Ima Sapphire and Merl's Blaze collided in the home straight.
