Stewards spoke to Mr George Kantzidis, the trainer of Sable Sass, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Sable Sass last raced on 6 April 2017. Mr Kantzidis stated that the greyhound had been recovering from a fractured metacarpal.

Destini Ricardo was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right quadriceps and tensor fascia (traingle) muscles, a seven-day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr Dale Chapman, the kennel representative of Destini Ricardo, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Destini Ricardo with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Chapman pleaded guilty to the charge, Destini Ricardo was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows (MEP) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

The start of this race was delayed slightly due to operational issues.
