Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Bound After Gold; a post-race sample was subsequently collected from the greyhound which placed second in the event.
Destini Ricardo, Bound After Gold and Mister Heeney were quick to begin. Lorian Victory and Free Auto were slow to begin.
Droppin' Plates and Uni Allen collided soon after the start. Mister Heeney and Uni Allen collided on the first turn. Bound After Gold and Mister Heeney collided on the first turn. Destini Ricardo checked off the heels of Bound After Gold on the first turn and collided with Droppin' Plates. Droppin' Plates, Lorian Victory and Free Auto collided on the third turn. Bound After Gold checked off the heels of Uni Allen approaching the home turn and collided with Destini Ricardo. Droppin' Plates and Lorian Victory collided several times on the home turn. Destini Ricardo eased approaching the winning post.
Destini Ricardo was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right quadriceps and tensor fascia (traingle) muscles, a seven-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Dale Chapman, the kennel representative of Destini Ricardo, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Destini Ricardo with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Chapman pleaded guilty to the charge, Destini Ricardo was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows (MEP) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
