Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr M Johnson, the trainer of Lightning Mckey regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Lightning Mckey last raced 14 March, 2017 and is returning from a spell and a change of kennel. Mr Johnson also declared a new weight of 35.0kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Lightning Mckey last raced at 33.3kgs.
Coolgirl Miss was slow to begin. Shogun Sammy, Upta Ya Mate, Jai Yen Yen and Lightning Mckey collided soon after the start. Shogun Sammy and Jai Yen Yen collided approaching the first turn. Jai Yen Yen marred Showgun Sammy on the first turn severely checking Coolgirl Miss, Shogun Sammy, Lightning Mckey and Six Heights. Shogun Sammy checked off Jai Yen Yen in the home straight.
Jai Yen Yen was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion to the right hind. No stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Colpoys, the trainer of the greyhound Jai Yen Yen regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Jai Yen Yen with marring. Mr. Colpoys pleaded guilty to the charge, Jai Yen Yen was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
