Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Domestic Girl upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Stewards spoke to Mr Russell Edwards, the trainer of Tarree's Ruslie, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Tarree's Ruslie last raced at Healesville on 17 February, 2017 and is returning to racing after a change of kennels and recouperating from a back muscle injury.
A pre-race sample was taken from Hey Shaza Fozz.
Paddy's Midnight and Cape Ability were slow to begin. Ashtastic, Domestic Girl and Tarree's Ruslie collided soon after the start. Iroquois Souljah crossed to the outside approaching the 250m mark, checking Tarree's Ruslie. Paddy's Midnight and Hey Shaza Fozz collided approaching the 200m mark, checking Ashtastic and severely checking Hey Shaza Fozz. Paddy's Midnight, Cape Ability and Iroquois Souljah collided approaching the 150m mark, checking all three greyhounds.
Domestic Girl faltered approaching the 100m mark and was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left tensor fascia (monkey) muscle. A 21-day stand down period was imposed.
MEETING COMMENTS
Satisfactory Trial Results - Crymelon Holly trialled over the 300m from box two, weight 26.6kg, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of four. The time of the trial was 17.05, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 12.6L. Crymelon Holly was not cleared.
Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Dale Batten, the trainer of Dodge The Storm, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Dodge The Storm last raced on 8 November 2016. Mr Batten stated that they greyhound had been recovering from a right stopper injury. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Dodge The Storm trialled over the 300m from box seven, weight 30.3kg, the greyhound was placed third in a field of four. The time of the trial was 17.05, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 6.25L. Dodge The Storm was cleared.
Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Adam Oakley, the trainer of Shezza's Nitro, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Shezza's Nitro last raced on 21 September 2016. Mr Oakley stated that the greyhound had been spelling. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Shezza's Nitro trialled over the 300m from box one, weight 25.6kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four. The time of the trial was 17.05, the greyhound won by a margin of a head. Shezza's Nitro was cleared.
