A pre-race sample was taken from Sir Pendelbury.
Pingu, Make Me Classy and Billy Bart were slow to begin. We Froff Dat and Sir Pendelbury collided soon after the start checking Sir Pendelbury. Make Me Classy checked off Pomp Fiction soon after the start. Make Me Classy checked off Pingu approaching the first turn. Sparkling Kitty, Elite Circle and Billy Bart collided on the first turn checking Elite Circle and severely checking Billy Bart. Make Me Classy raced wide on the home turn. Sparkling Kitty and We Froff Dat collided entering the home straight. Pingu and Billy Bart collided in the home straight. We Froff Dat and Sparkling Kitty collided approaching the winning post.

Satisfactory Trial Results
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Turnbull, the trainer of Jacana regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Jacana last raced on 27th August 2015. Mr. Turnbull stated that the greyhound was returning to race after being on season. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Jacana trialled over the 390 metre distance from box 2, weight 25.8kgs. The greyhound was placed 1st, in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 22.80. The greyhound won by a margin of 2.75 lengths. Jacana was cleared.

Mr. Turnbull stated that the greyhound was returning to race after a spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Rayvon trialled over the 390 metre distance from box 4, weight 31.9kgs. The greyhound was placed 2nd, in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 22.80. The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 2.75 lengths. Rayvon was cleared.
