The start time for this event was ammended to 3:23PM after the a South Australian race meeting was cancelled and to allow this race to be aired on Sky 1.
A pre-race sample was taken from Pipeline Rumour.
Back Slapper and Mick's Angel were slow to begin. Back Slapper checked off Peggy Sable soon aftee the start. Cosmea, Pipeline Rumour, Peggy Sable, Evers Bale, Crucify and Quaker Bale collided on the first turn, checking Pipeline Rumour, Peggy Sable, Evers Bale, Crucify, Back Slapper and Mick's Angel. Back Slapper and Peggy Sable collided on the first turn. Cosmea and Evers Bale collided on the first turn. Back Slapper and Mick's Angel collided entering the front straight. Pipeline Rumour and Back Slapper collided on the second turn. Mick's Angel checked off Peggy Sable approaching the third turn. Quaker Bale and Crucify collided on the fourth turn.
