Steward's Report
A pre race sample was taken from Midnight Treat.
Dakini Allen and Precious Destini were quick to begin. Onya Teddy, Midnight Treat, Barnes Banana and Solo collided on the first turn checking Midnight Treat and Barnes Banana. Dakini Allen, Onya Teddy, Barnes Banana and Solo collided entering the front straight checking Dakini Allen. Precious Destini, Solo and Militant Man collided on the second turn checking Militant Man and severely checking Solo which fell as a result. Onya Teddy eased on the second turn and collided with Barnes Banana, checking Barnes Banana which raced wide as a result. Precious Destini, Midnight Treat and Whispering Soul collided entering the home straight.
A sample was taken from Whispering Soul, second placegetter in the event.
Solo was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr M Meyer, the trainer of the greyhound Onya Teddy regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the second turn. Onya Teddy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right back muscle, a 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Onya Teddy with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Meyer pleaded not guilty to the charge, Onya Teddy was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
