Stewards spoke to J. Jarkis, the trainer of Lamington Lass regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Lamington Lass last raced on 25 January 2017 and is returning from a season and change of kennels.

Mr. Jarkis, trainer of Lamington Lass declared a new weight of 28.2kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Lamington Lass last raced at 29.5kgs.

Sultan's Boy was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left back muscle injury and a right webbing wound, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to the handler, Mr. D. Watson regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound Remembering Dad.  Stewards directed that Remembering Dad be boxed first in future events.

Fallen Star was a late scratching at 13:40 due to the greyhound being on season (GAR 24).  A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Black Bindi and About To Cry were quick to begin.  Another Hope was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  Joni Sunset and Bar The Bullet collided soon after the start.  Cash Ownley and Willowvale Wings collided on the first turn.  Willowvale Wings faltered approaching the home turn and tailed off.  Another Hope checked off Joni Sunset entering the home straight.

Willowvale Wings was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured right hock and was humanely euthanased.

Stewards spoke to B. Moles, the trainer of Brodie's Mullet regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Brodie's Mullet last raced on 17 February 2017 and is returning after injuries to both monkey muscles.

C. Fulford, trainer of Tinderella declared a new weight of 28.2 for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Tinderella last raced at 29.4.

Retention, Kept In Suspense and Brodie's Mullet collided soon after the start.  Retention, Brodie's Mullet, Lucky's Spirit, Bandit Brad and Bambalam Tilly collided approaching the first turn checking Brodie's Mullet.  Kept In Suspense and Lucky's Spirit collided on the first turn checking Lucky's Spirit and Tinderella.  Kept In Suspense galloped on Bambalam Tilly approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds; Kept In Suspense raced wide as a result.

Brodie's Mullet was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Spence  regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound Lucky's Spirit.   Stewards issued a warning regarding the greyhound's box manners.

MEETING COMMENTS:

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A)  - Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Grice , the trainer of  Cosmic Jewel regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Cosmic Jewel last raced on 2nd October, 2016.  Mr. Grice stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a change of kennels.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Cosmic Jewel trialled over the 395m from box 3, weight 28.7kgs the greyhound was placed 4th in a field of  4.  The time of the trial was 22.98  the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 14.25 lengths.  Cosmic Jewel was Cleared.
