A pre-race sample was taken from Jeremiah Jack.
Jeremiah Jack, Why Not George and Gypsy Gazza were slow to begin. Highfield Bones and Kid Bobby collided soon after the start checking Highfield Bones; Highfield Bones collided with Gypsy Gazza causing Highfield Bones to lose ground as a result. Jeremiah Jack, Why Not George, Parrot Is Loose and Gypsy Gazza collided in the back straight checking Why Not George. Jeremiah Jack, Parrot Is Loose, Gypsy Gazza and Inky collided approaching the second turn checking Parrot Is Loose. Jeremiah Jack, Gypsy Gazza and Inky collided on the second turn checking Gypsy Gazza and severely checking Highfield Bones which contacted the running rail as a result.
Highfield Bones was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left monkey muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
