Mr P. Burns, trainer of Canya Rousey declared a new weight of 25.0kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Canya Rousey last raced at 26.3kgs.
A pre-race sample was taken from Canya Rousey.
Acquainted was slow to begin.
Canya Rousey galloped on Spazzy Blue on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Kept In Suspense and Slick Diamond collided on the first turn checking Slick Diamond. Kept In Suspense eased approaching the home turn checking Kept In Suspense, Phillip Keeping, Swift Ruby and Triple Cee causing all greyhounds to race wide as a result. Kept In Suspense eased entering the home straight checking Triple Cee and Swift Ruby. Kept In Suspense raced wide in the home straight.
Kept In Suspense was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Mrs Johannsen declined to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Mrs E. Johannsen, the handler of the greyhound Kept In Suspense regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Kept In Suspense with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs Johannsen pleaded guilty to the charge, Kept In Suspense was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
