A pre-race sample was taken from Aeroplane Jet upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Tim Riggins was slow to begin. Big Bold Boomer, Heracles and Southwood Hazel collided soon after the start, checking Heracles. Heracles checked off Southwood Trump approaching the first turn. Aeroplane Jet, Big Bold Boomer, Southwood Hazel, Daintree Jim and Southwood Trump collided on the first turn, checking Heracles, Big Bold Boomer, Southwood Trump and Southwood Hazel. Heracles, Daintree Jim and Aeroplane Jet collided on the second turn, checking Heracles. Daintree Jim checked off Big Bold Boomer approaching the home turn.
