Steward's Report

Jazzy New Year was slow to begin.  Our Wild Emily and Johnny Bullet collided soon after the start.  Dance A Tron and Kayo King collided soon after the start.  Zipping Stu, Dance A Tron, Kayo King and Johnny Bullet collided on the first turn checking Kayo King and Johnny Bullet and severely checking Our Wild Emily, Zipping Stu and Jazzy New Year and causing Dance A Tron to fall.  Kayo King was checked off Johnny Bullet approaching the second turn.  Our Wild Emily and Zipping Stu collided approaching the second turn.  Our Wild Emily and Jazzy New Year collided on the home turn.

Dance A Tron was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion to the left hind pad,  a spike wound to the right hind pad, a torn nail on left hind toe, an injured left and right calf and left and right thigh, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Johnny Bullet was vetted following the event after an incident in the catching pen.  It was reported that there was no injury apparent.

A sample was taken from Henry - winner of the event.

Following the event it was reported that the catching pen gate had become self locked causing the first three greyhounds to continue through the gate after the event. Stewards spoke with track staff and after testing the gate, no further problems were reported. The three greyhounds involved were uninjured.
