Stewards spoke to Mr S.Berriman, the trainer of Pesty Pyper regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Pesty Pyper last  raced on 21 December 2016. Mr Berriman stated that the greyhound was resuming racing following a dislocated toe after which time it became seasonal.  Mr Berriman declared a new weight of 30.2kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Pesty Piper last raced at 29.0kg.

Mr K.Tirchett was fined the sum of $50 for failing to ensure the registration card was produced for the greyhound Sweet Galo's pursuant to GAR 33.

Iceni Rival was slow to begin.  Archer's Will checked off Leachwood Lass approaching the first turn.  Leachwood Lass checked off Platinum Osti on the first turn.  Archer's Will and Pesty Pyper collided approaching the home turn, checking Burnt Biscuit.

Stewards spoke to Mr D.Beasley, the trainer of Benny's Legend regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Benny's Legend last raced on 14 October 2016. Mr Beasley stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a fractured right hock.

First Refusal was slow to begin.  On The Trail went up with the lids and was slow to begin.  On The Trail and Verta Bale collided soon after the start. Dyna Elias and Jacey Allen collided approaching the first turn, checking Jacey Allen.  Bulk Cairns and Shadow Kick collided approaching the first turn, checking First Refusal.  No Shadow Kick, Dyna Elias and Iceni Crusader collided approaching the home turn, checking Dyna Elias and Verta Bale.  Dyna Elias checked off Iceni Crusader on the home turn, checking Verta Bale and First Refusal and causing First Refusal to race wide as a result.

MEETING COMMENTS:

Stewards conducted an inquiry into the circumstances pertaining to the removal of the incorrect greyhound from its kennel following race 4. Stewards charged trainer Mr. G. Selkrig under rule GAR86(o) with negligence.  Mr. Selkrig pleaded not guilty.  Mr. Selkrig was found guilty and fined the sum of $250.

Stewards also spoke to licensed person Ms. N. Petts and issued her with a severe reprimand and advised her to show more care when carrying out her duties.
