A pre-race sample was taken from Little Big Chief.
Medicine Bow and Woodleigh Bond were slow to begin. Titanium Boy and Vane Power collided soon after the start and again at the 300 metre mark. Divino, Little Big Chief, Inter Elesha and Medicine Bow collided soon after the start. Woodleigh Bond and Little Big Chief collided approaching the 250 metre mark. Woodleigh Bond checked off Little Big Chief at the 250 metre mark. Titanium Boy and Divino collided at the 200 metre mark. Medicine Bow and Vane Power collided several times at the 150 metre mark checking Medicine Bow.
Woodleigh Bond was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
