This event was rescheduled to start at 7:12pm due to the abandonment of the Richmond greyhounds meeting.
Uncle Bump and Merl's Blaze were slow to begin. Who's Irod and Evil Currency collided soon after the start, checking Who's Irod. Who's Irod and Uncle Bump collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn. Why Not Will and Zonah's Dream collided on the first turn, checking Zonah's Dream. Mahlo Hero eased approaching the home turn. Why Not Will galloped on the heels of Merl's Blaze approaching the home turn, checking Mahlo Hero. Evil Currency and Why Not Will collided on the home turn, checking Evil Currency and Zonah's Dream. Furious Trump galloped on the heels of Evil Currency approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Uncle Bump and Mahlo Hero collided in the home straight. Zonah's Dream raced wide in the home straight.
Mahlo Hero was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Tanti, the trainer of the greyhound Mahlo Hero regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Mahlo Hero with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Tanti pleaded guilty to the charge, Mahlo Hero was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
