Stewards spoke to Ms. S Doust, the trainer of Wilamena regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Wilamena last raced on 14th November, 2016 and is returning to racing after a change of kennel. 

Spectroscopic was slow to begin.  Colombian Coffee and Urana Banjo collided soon after the start and again at the 250m mark.  Aladdin Prince and Urana Banjo collided at the 200m mark.

Foxy Fern was a late scratching at 11.14pm on 25/2/17 due to illness (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

Nu Blue Champion was quick to begin.  Beluga, Arachnophobia and Chief Tonto were slow to begin.  Hollywood Nights eased soon after the start.  Hollywood Nights and Way Things Are collided at the 100m mark, checking Arachnophobia and severely checking Hollywood Nights.  Beluga and Laurie Galore collided approaching the winning post.  Nu Blue Champion eased approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Ms. A Terry, the trainer of the greyhound Nu Blue Champion regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post.  Nu Blue Champion was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right calf and thigh, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Nu Blue Champion with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Ms.Terry pleaded not guilty to the charge, Nu Blue Champion was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted

Hollywood Nights was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left monkey muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Simon Humphries leaving the course after being directed by stewards to appear before the steward in charge. Mr. Humphries was unable to be contacted by mobile phone.

Princess Pooch was slow to begin.  Big Boy Buzz, Predemonic and Mimicry collided soon after the start, checking Predemonic.  Predemonic and Mimicry collided at the 250m mark.  Princess Pooch, Predemonic and Mimicry collided at the 200m mark, checking Princess Pooch and Predemonic.  Predemonic and Mimicry collided several times from the 50m mark until the winning post.  Silent Assault raced wide throughout the event.

Fleur De Rose went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.  Chase's Chance was slow to begin.  Fleur De Rose and Chase's Chance collided soon after the start.  Pat Me Again and Unbackable collided soon after the start.  Pat Me Again checked off Enchanting Image at the 200m mark, causing Pat Me Again to stumble and lose ground.  Cullquin Bomber and Kid Carl collided at the 100m mark.

My Lady Limonite, Lektra Damage, Tweedle Dumb, Blackjack's Back, Cheetah Stealth and Ultimate Conor collided soon after the start.  My Lady Limonite and Ultimate Conor collided at the 250m mark and again at the 200m mark.  Lektra Damage, Tweedle Dumb and Far Out Indian collided at the 150m mark.

Dragon's Den and Krank Panda collided at the 200m mark.  Blue Squirrel checked off Dragon's Den at the 150m mark.

Master Mordecai was slow to begin.  Amlin Prince and Daryl Dixon collided soon after the start.  Daryl Dixon and Gotta Rush collided at the 300m mark, severely checking Master Mordecai and Gotta Rush.  Kazmic's Spirit and Daryl Dixon collided at the 200m mark.

Gotta Rush was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left back muscle, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. W McNeil, the trainer of Seraph regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Seraph last raced on 11th November, 2016 and is returning to racing after surgery to a left back pad to remove a foreign object. 

Miss Flinders was a late scratching at 11.37am due to the greyhound being on season (GAR 24). A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Master Al and Arashundi were slow to begin.  Seraph was very slow to begin (4 lengths).  Simply Stealth and Master Al collided at the 300m mark. Destini Florida and Razzle Oak collided at the 150m mark.  Destini Florida and Raweenie collided at the 50m mark.

Stewards spoke to Mr. S Waycott, the representative of Platinum Rift regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Platinum Rift last raced on 24th November, 2016 and is returning to racing after a spell.  

Pursuant to GAR 104 (6) Starter Mr. R Johnson and Lure Driver Mr. H Johnson did not act in any official capacity for this event.

Blue Deception, Whacker Fancy and Remembering Dad collided soon after the start.  Goldenpaw Flyer and Team Son collided soon after the start.  Remembering Dad and Goodison Girl collided at the 250m mark.  Blue Deception, Whacker Fancy and Goodison Girl collided at the 200m mark.  Goodison Girl and Double Deception collided at the 150m mark.

Mr. T Salih, trainer of Haiyan declared a new weight of 37.3kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Haiyan last raced at 36.0kgs. 

Splash Of Blue was slow to begin.  Splash Of Blue and Mix Off Harmony collided at the 250m mark.  Mix Off Harmony and Dontron collided at the 200m mark.  Splash Of Blue and Mister Brown collided at the 50m mark.

Haiyan was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right back muscle, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre race sample was taken from Try Me.

Oliver Cruise, Marlow's Express, Gardot and Astute Glib collided soon after the start.  Astute Glib checked off Oliver Cruise at the 200m mark.

MEETING COMMENTS:

Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Heydon, the trainer of Premier Macs regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Premier Macs last raced on 20th July, 2016. Mr. Heydon stated that the greyhound is returning from being on season and an injured left hock.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Premier Macs trialled over the 300m from box 8, weight 26.9kgs, the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 16.82, the greyhound won by a margin of 6 lengths. Premier Macs was cleared.

Stewards spoke to Mr. D Plant, the trainer of Karaoke Ken regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Karaoke Ken last raced on 20th September 2016. Mr. Plant stated that the greyhound is new to his kennel. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Karaoke Ken trialled over the 300m from box 1, weight 36.3kgs, the greyhound was placed 4th in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 16.82, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 10 1/4 lengths. Karaoke Ken was cleared.
