Steward's Report
An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Spare Parts, engaged in this event, on Wednesday 23rd December 2015.
Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr. R. Proctor after the greyhound Boris Winslow was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr. Proctor was reminded of his responsibilites and reminded when kennelling he ensures greyhounds are kennelled in accordance with kennel procedure.
Stewards spoke to kennel attendant, Mr. P. Haley after the greyhound Boris Winslow was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr. Haley was reminded of his responsibilites and asked to ensure that all greyhounds are correctly kennelled in future. This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration.
Benny's Promise, Canis Regis and Ava's Girl were quick to begin. Black Sheep went up with the lids at box rise. Day Breaker and Djays Larry were slow to begin. Ava's Girl crossed to the rail soon after the start and collided with Canis Regis. Benny's Promise, Canis Regis and Ava's Girl collided approaching the first turn checking Ava's Girl. Boris Winslow, Djays Larry and Day Breaker collided on the first turn checking Boris Winslow and Day Breaker. Djays Larry and Black Sheep collided approaching the home turn. Day Breaker checked off Black Sheep approaching the home turn. Canis Regis and Djays Larry collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds. Djays Larry eased in the home straight and collided with Canis Regis.
Stewards spoke to Mr. K. Daisley, the representative of the greyhound Djays Larry regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Djays Larry was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained minor skin abrasions to its back legs. No stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Djays Larry with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Daisley pleaded not guilty to the charge. Djays Larry was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
