An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Vegas Las Paris, engaged in this event, on Wednesday 23rd December 2015.

I'm Mad was slow to begin.  Dr. Chitchat was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  Miss Talia and Senni Ricky collided approaching the home turn severely checking Senni Ricky which stumbled as a result.  I'm Mad and Miss Talia collided approaching the home turn.  Vegas Las Paris and Senni Ricky collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds.  Vegas Las Paris and Miss Talia collided on the home turn checking Vegas Las Paris.  Vegas Las Paris and Senni Ricky collided on the home turn.  Paleface Girl raced wide in the home straight.

Stewards noted that the muzzle of Senni Ricky became dislodged soon after the start.

Trainer Mrs J. Griffiths provided notification to Stewards that Run Home Dash had not raced since 17th September 2015, as it had been recovering from a hind foot injury and was also new to her kennel.

Mr. D. Hills, trainer of Maine Lach declared a new weight of 30.9kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 30(2).  Maine Lach last raced at 29.1kgs.

Gangster Jatt was very slow to begin (5 lengths).  Maine Lach crossed to the rail soon after the start.  Senni Bones and Night Fox collided soon after the start checking Night Fox.  Axel Boy crossed to the outside soon after the start checking Senni Bones, Night Fox and Calvin Candie. Calvin Candie and Arctic Winter collided approaching the home turn checking Arctic Winter.  Calvin Candie galloped on the heels of Senni Bones on the home turn.

A pre-race sample was taken from Greysynd Turbo.

Highfield La La crossed to the rail soon after the start checking Atta Flash.  Atta Flash and Pyrenees Dynasty collided soon after the start checking Pyrenees Dynasty.  Sweet Nothins and Pyrenees Dynasty collided on the first turn checking Pyrenees Dynasty.  Highfield La La, Storm Trooper, Arcup Ollie, Greysynd Turbo and Atta Flash collided on the first turn severely checking Arcup Ollie, Sweet Nothins, Storm Trooper, Atta Flash and Kiminator; Sweet Nothins and Storm Trooper fell as a result.  

Arcup Ollie was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to its left shoulder and left triceps.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Sweet Nothins was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right thigh.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Storm Trooper was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Spare Parts, engaged in this event, on Wednesday 23rd December 2015.

Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr. R. Proctor after the greyhound Boris Winslow was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr. Proctor was reminded of his responsibilites and reminded when kennelling he ensures greyhounds are kennelled in accordance with kennel procedure.

Stewards spoke to kennel attendant, Mr. P. Haley after the greyhound Boris Winslow was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process.  Mr. Haley was reminded of his responsibilites and asked to ensure that all greyhounds are correctly kennelled in future.  This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration.

Benny's Promise, Canis Regis and Ava's Girl were quick to begin.  Black Sheep went up with the lids at box rise.  Day Breaker and Djays Larry were slow to begin.  Ava's Girl crossed to the rail soon after the start and collided with Canis Regis.  Benny's Promise, Canis Regis and Ava's Girl collided approaching the first turn checking Ava's Girl.  Boris Winslow, Djays Larry and Day Breaker collided on the first turn checking Boris Winslow and Day Breaker.  Djays Larry and Black Sheep collided approaching the home turn.  Day Breaker checked off Black Sheep approaching the home turn.  Canis Regis and Djays Larry collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds.  Djays Larry eased in the home straight and collided with Canis Regis.

Stewards spoke to Mr. K. Daisley, the representative of the greyhound Djays Larry regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight.  Djays Larry was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained minor skin abrasions to its back legs.  No stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Djays Larry with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr. Daisley pleaded not guilty to the charge.  Djays Larry was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

A sample was taken from Benny's Promise, the winner of the event.

This event was delayed by approximately 8 minutes due to the boxes failing to open.  The Club Veterinary Surgeon vetted all the greyhounds and all greyhounds were passed fit to race.  The boxes were cleared and the event was subsequently handstarted.

Matlin's Tornado and Marle Bale were quick to begin.  Nuggy Burger checked off Matlin's Tornado on the first turn.  Nuggy Burger and Dorian Bale collided entering the back straight checking Dorian Bale.

Marle Bale was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Thelma's Man was a late scratching at 11:35am due to non-arrival (GAR 31).  A 28 day stand down period was imposed.  Trainer, Mr. C. Hudson was fined the sum of $100.

A pre-race sample was taken from Boom Boom Shiraz.

Willowvale Hawk was quick to begin.  McThumpa, Velocity Alice and Zac's A Sixpence collided soon after the start.  McThumpa and Velocity Alice collided on the first turn checking Velocity Alice.  Boom Boom Shiraz checked off Kilcolegan Cross entering the back straight.  Boom Boom Shiraz checked off McThumpa approaching the home turn.

Darcy Rose checked off Calahan Rocks approaching the first turn.  Madeleine Jay and Calahan Rocks collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking Madeleine Jay.  Madeleine Jay and Darcy Rose collided approaching the home turn checking Darcy Rose. Calahan Rocks, Kilty's Tiger and Two Pointover collided approaching the home turn checking all three greyhounds.  Darcy Rose raced wide in the home straight.

Two Pointover was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to its left front leg.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr P. Rowan in regards to the greyhound Tear Away Kuda, which performed above market expectations. Mr Rowan stated that the greyhound has always shown ability but was injury prone and as such he is unable to trial the greyhound. Mr Rowan further stated that after the greyhounds last start at Geelong, he was of the opinion that the greyhound would benefit from the longer run in to the first turn. Stewards noted the comment of Mr Rowan, and directed a sample be taken from the greyhound.  

Kripke, Slipaway Simba and Kimmy Bale collided soon after the start checking Slipaway Simba.  Riley Boy and Kimmy Bale collided approaching the first turn.  Zonda Bale and Bojack Kahn collided approaching the first turn.  Riley Boy and Kimmy Bale collided approaching the home turn checking Kimmy Bale.  Slipaway Simba and Kimmy Bale collided on the home turn checking Kimmy Bale.

A pre-race sample was taken from Baltic Charm.

Belocette, Baltic Charm and Super Pablo collided soon after the start checking Baltic Charm.  Destini Inferno and Super Pablo collided on the first turn.  Pearce checked off Destini Inferno approaching the home turn.  Baltic Charm checked off Destini Inferno approaching the home turn.

The Judges inadvertantly semaphored the incorrect numbers of 8, 3, 3 and 7.  This was subsequently amended to the correct numbers of 8, 4, 3 and 7 prior to the All Clear given.

Mystique Speedy, Satin Ice and Bazz Kebab collided soon after the start checking Mystique Speedy.  Dolce Ventu and Hotlips Matilda collided approaching the first turn checking Hotlips Matilda.  Shifty Joshua and Dolce Ventu collided approaching the first turn checking Dolce Ventu. Bazz Kebab and Satin Ice collided approaching the home turn checking Bazz Kebab, Satin Ice and Dolce Ventu.  Satin Ice checked off Bazz Kebab approaching the home turn.

Squirto was quick to begin.  Jayded Mia and Cosmic Blonde collided soon after the start checking Cosmic Blonde.  Spooked and Ava Crowder collided approaching the first turn checking Ava Crowder.  Ablazin Mikado and Cosmic Blonde collided approaching the first turn checking Ablazin Mikado.  Cosmic Blonde and Jayded Mia collided approaching the home turn checking Cosmic Blonde.  Cosmic Blonde and Ablazin Mikado collided approaching the home turn checking Cosmic Blonde.  Cosmic Blonde and Ava Crowder collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds.

Cosmic Blonde was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

A sample was taken from Squirto, the winner of the event.

A pre-race sample was taken from Belena Lad.

Oriental Lord and Key Largo Prince collided soon after the start checking Key Largo Prince.  Spoil The Party, Oriental Lord, Sootette and Dodgy Dealer collided soon after the start checking Oriental Lord and Sootette.  Spoil The Party galloped on the heels of Dodgy Dealer approaching the first turn checking See Him Go.  See Him Go, Belena Lad and Oriental Lord collided approaching the home turn severely checking Belena Lad which stumbled as a result.

Stewards noted that the muzzle of Spoil The Party became dislodged during the running of the event.

Meeting Comments

Satisfactory Trials

Dutch Schultz trialled over the 450 metre distance from box 1, weight 32.1kg.  The greyhound was placed 3rd, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 26.07.  The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 1.25L.  Dutch Schultz was cleared.

Stewards spoke to Mr R. Tartaglia, the trainer of Thundering Star regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Thundering Star last raced on 15 June 2015.  Mr Tartaglia stated that  the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Thundering Star trialled over the 390 metre distance from box 1, weight 27.6kg.  The greyhound was placed 1st, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 22.42.  The greyhound was won by a margin of 3.5L.  Thundering Star was cleared.
