A pre race sample was taken from Magic Myer.
Dan The Man and Little Written were slow to begin. Short Blond Hair, Tiger Ty Bob, Dan The Man, Magic Myer and Little Written collided soon after the start, checking Tiger Ty Bob, Dan The Man and Little Written. Tiger Ty Bob and Dan The Man collided approaching the first turn. Short Blond Hair checked off Don's Disaster on the first turn. Tiger Ty Bob and Dan The Man collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds, causing Dan The Man to race wide checking Little Written as a result. Little Written galloped on the heels of Dan The Man approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Short Blond Hair and Magic Myer collided on the home turn.
Dan The Man was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right pencil muscle and abrasions to the right metatarsal, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards issued a warning to D Baker, the handler of Nellie's Lad regarding his failure to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound for racing.
