Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. W Lambert, the representative of Regal Spice regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Regal Spice last raced on 13th April, 2015 and is returning to racing after being retired.
Mr. J. Higgins, trainer of Blitzem Cola, declared a new weight of 29.0kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Blitzem Cola last raced at 27.0kgs.
Blitzem Cola and Ginto Zac were quick to begin. Cheryl's Boy was very slow to begin (4 lengths). Azza, Regal Spice and Spare Parts collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn checking Azza and Regal Spice. Renegade Rebel and Ginto Zac collided on the first turn checking Ginto Zac. Cheryl's Boy checked off Regal Spice on the first turn. Renegade Rebel checked off Blitzem Cola approaching the home turn and collided with Cosmic Earner as a result. Renegade Rebel and Cosmic Earner collided on the home turn. Renegade Rebel galloped on the heels of Blitzem Cola on the home turn. Renegade Rebel and Blitzem Cola collided in the home straight. Regal Spice and Cheryl's Boy collided in the home straight. Renegade Rebel eased in the home straight and collided with Blitzem Cola.
Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Payne, the trainer of Renegade Rebel regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Renegade Rebel was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right thigh. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Renegade Rebel with failing to purse the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Payne pleaded guilty to the charge. Renegade Rebel was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
