Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Ms. V. Sultana, the trainer of Special Mate regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Special Mate last raced on 19th of September, 2016. Ms. Sultana reported the greyhound was returning to race after being unable to gain a start previously.
Special Mate was slow to begin. Adala Son, Jamari Belle, Lucinda and Thank Me Later collided soon after the start checking Jamari Belle. Adala Son and Lucinda collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking Adala Son. Special Mate raced wide on the first turn and approaching the home turn causing the greyhound to lose ground and tail off as a result. Crickets Dash and Cyclone Jebrynah collided on the home turn, several times in the home straight and again approaching the winning post.
Special Mate was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Ms. V. Sultana, the trainer of the greyhound Special Mate. Stewards deemed the performance of Special Mate unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Special Mate must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A sample was taken from Cyclone Jebrynah, the winner of the event.
