Stewards spoke to Ms. V. Wisener the trainer of Royal Village regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Royal Village last raced on 03/07/16.  Ms. Wisener stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right back muscle injury.

Stewards spoke to Mr. W. McMahon the owner of Dr. Gidget regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Dr. Gidget last raced on 11/06/16.  Mr. McMahon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a hock injury.  Pursuant to GAR 77A Dr. Gidget trialled over 395 metres from box 1, weight 28.9kg, the greyhound was placed third in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 23.51 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 2.5 lengths.  Dr. Gidget was vetted following the trial after the greyhound faltered approaching the home turn.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left monkey muscle, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Dr. Gidget was not cleared.
