Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Ms. J.Imlach, the trainer of Miata Gold regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Miata Gold last raced on 24th July, 2016. Ms Imlach stated that Miata Gold is returning to racing after being on season. Ms.Imlach also declared a new weight of 30.2kg's for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Miata Gold last raced at 28.9kg's.
A pre-race sample was taken from Brodie Keeping.
Rosie Riccarton was quick to begin. Sweet Candy, Who's My Daddy and Brodie Keeping were slow to begin. Kercem Lee and Rosie Riccarton collided approaching the first turn, checking Kercem Lee, Rosie Riccarton and Miata Gold. Brodie Keeping crossed to the rail on the first turn, checking Miata Gold and Who's My Daddy, and severely checking Kercem Lee and Rosie Riccarton, Who's My Daddy raced wide as a result. Sweet Candy and Miata Gold collided approaching the second turn, checking Miata Gold. Brodie Keeping and Mighty Bree collided on the second turn, checking Mighty Bree. Lemon Paw and Kercem Lee collided entering the back straight, checking Kercem Lee. Sweet Candy galloped on the heels of Who's My Daddy in the back straight, checking both greyhounds. Miata Gold checked off Kercem Lee approaching the home turn. Sweet Candy raced wide on the home turn.
Rosie Riccarton was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right calf, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
