Steward's Report
Miss Jay Dodgers was a late scratching at 11.47am on the advice of the Club's Veterinary Surgeon due to a laceration to the right fore foot. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr D Hills, the trainer of Miss Crazy Cat and Sharmaine's Girl regarding the length of time the greyhounds have had between races. Miss Crazy Cat last raced 27 June, 2015 and Sharmaine's Girl last raced 15 February, 2015. Mr Hills stated both greyhounds have needed time to mature and gain further confidence.
Cullquin Cuddles and Miss Crazy Cat were slow to begin. Dee Tee Vane and Tzar Knight collided soon after the start. Tzar Knight and Sharmaine's Girl collided approaching the 300m mark. Cullquin Cuddles, Cosmic Lulu and Dee Tee Vane collided approaching the 300m mark. Cosmic Lulu and Dee Tee Vane collided approaching the 250m mark, checking Dee Tee Vane. Cosmic Lulu and Sharmaine's Girl collided approaching the 200m mark. Cullquin Cuddles faltered approaching the 50m mark, checking Tzar Knight.
Cullquin Cuddles was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following race 7 it was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to S Quinlan, the trainer of the greyhound Cullquin Cuddles regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the 50m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Cullquin Cuddles with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. S Quinlan pleaded guilty to the charge, Cullquin Cuddles was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
