Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Zenobia.
Desert Haze was slow to begin. Zenobia eased soon after the start checking Sweet Freyr. Hogg's The Boss and Team Son collided soon after the start checking Hogg's The Boss. Sweet Freyr galloped on the heels of Desert Haze on the first turn checking Sweet Freyr, Desert Haze and Hurricane Patch; Hurricane Patch raced wide as a result. Hurricane Patch and Desert Haze raced wide in the home straight.
Stewards spoke to Mrs. J. Greenough, the representative of the greyhound Zenobia regarding the greyhound's racing manners soon after the start. Zenobia was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to its left front leg. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Zenobia with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mrs. Greenough pleaded guilty to the charge. Zenobia was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Hurricane Patch was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right hock. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
