Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to kennel attendant, Mr. D. Keirl after the greyhound Destini Colorado was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr. Keirl was reminded him of responsibilities and asked to ensure that all greyhounds are correctly kennelled in future
Southwood Rufus was slow to begin. Jam Lady and Blue Afro collided soon after the start checking Blue Afro. Blue Afro contacted the running rail on the first turn and lost ground as a result. Destini Colorado, Lil' Tuff Chapta and Winlock Wrighty collided approaching the home turn checking Lil' Tuff Chapta. Southwood Rufus raced wide on the home turn checking Monkey Year. Jam Lady and Outa Manila collided in the home straight. Destini Colorado failed to pursue the lure in the home straight and collided with Jam Lady.
Blue Afro was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to its left hind leg and an injury to its right thigh. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Taylor, the handler of the greyhound Destini Colorado regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Destini Colorado was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right pencil muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Destini Colorado with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Taylor pleaded guilty to the charge. Destini Colorado was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
