Stewards spoke to Ms. S. Elmes, the trainer's representative of Avatar Jet regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Avatar Jet last raced on 25th May 2016. Ms. Elmes stated that the greyhound was returning from a toe injury.
Invictus Rapid was quick to begin. Landmark was slow to begin. Avatar Jet, Landmark, Diego Bale and Zipping Arnold collided soon after the start checking Diego Bale and severely checking Avatar Jet and Landmark and Landmark fell as a result. Diego Bale checked off Zipping Arnold entering the home straight.
Avatar Jet was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a minor abrasion to the left elbow. No stand down period was imposed.
Landmark was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left fore foot and the left flexor tendon. A stand down period of 21 days was imposed.
