Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Ellis, the trainer of the greyhound Cape Shiraz.  Stewards deemed the performance of Cape Shiraz unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Cape Shiraz must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr G.Dainton, the trainer of Kappow regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Kappow last raced on 20th April, 2016. Mr Dainton stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a right hock injury. 

Ivanka Rose, Vanity Affair and Mystic Mac were slow to begin. Vanity Affair, Mystic Mac and Forever Rose collided soon after the start. Kappow and Ivanka Rose collided approaching the first turn. Twin Brooks and Lara's Lament collided approaching the first turn. Vanity Affair and Mystic Mac collided on the first turn. Kappow and Ivanka Rose collided several times in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr S.Waycott, the trainer of Moyarra Okuibi regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Moyarra Okuibi last raced on 23rd May, 2016. Mr Waycott stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a back right foot injury.

Howth was slow to begin. Howth, Moyarra Okuibi and I'm No Nag collided soon after the start. Cape Cruiser, King Spotalot and My Name's Emma collided approaching the first turn, checking King Spotalot and My Name's Emma. 

Steel Fury was quick to begin. Avatar Helga was slow to begin. Stop Senoring and Emi's Boy Badger collided approaching the first turn. Horey's Pal and Aggi Den collided on the home turn. Emi's Boy Badger, Superstar Jatt and Aggi Den raced wide in the home straight. 

A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Superstar Jatt, a post race sample was subsequently taken.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Campeon engaged in this event on Wednesday 14th of September, 2016 pursuant to GAR 79A.

See Him Run was a late scratching at 2:44pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr A.Marum was fined the sum of $100.

Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry to a date to be fixed regarding the circumstances pertaining to licenced attendant Harley Clark having a syringe with a liquid substance in his possession, located inside the vehicle he was travelling in, at the Shepparton Racing Club car park . Stewards took evidence prior to Race 1 from Mr. Clark who stated that the substance was KFS which is used to assist the greyhound Cool Boots in its post race recovery. Stewards obtained a sample of the liquid substance for further analysis and ordered a pre-race sample to be taken from Cool Boots.  

Campeon and Parisian Magic collided soon after the start. Uno Buddy and Roll 'Em Maggie collided coon after the start, checking Romm 'Em Maggie. Two Teams Umpire and Uno Buddy collided approaching the first turn, Two Teams Umpire contacted the running rail as a result. Roll 'Em Maggie checked off Campeon on the home turn. Campeon and Parisian Magic collided on the home turn. Campeon and Roll 'Em Maggie collided on the home turn. 

Two Teams Umpire was vetted following the event, It was reported abrasions to the left metatarsal, a three day stand period was imposed.

Mix Off Harmony and Kraken Tobias were slow to begin. Jodie's Knee, Telling Lies and All Inn Menphis collided soon after the start, checking All Inn Menphis. Gunmetal Lad crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Marley Sprite. Marley Sprite and Mix Off Harmony collided on the first turn, checking Marley Sprite, Mix Off Harmony, Kraken Tobias and Jodie's Knee. Marley Sprite checked off Kraken Tobias approaching the home turn. Telling Lies and Kraken Tobias collided in the home straight, checking both greyhounds. Marley Sprite and Telling Lies collided approaching the winning post, checking Telling Lies.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Pure Zest trialled over the 450m from box 8, weight 31.2kg's, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four starters. The time of the trial was 25.48, the greyhound was beaten a margin of 2.25 lengths. Pure Zest was cleared.
