Mr. Late was a late scratching at 9:13am due to injury (GAR23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

The club Veterinary Surgeon examined Call Me Loulou and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 2:18pm due to weight variation (GAR39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Mr. R. Stephens was fined the sum of $100.

Mr. G. Couldridge, handler of Black Sheep declared a new weight of 26.6kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR39(2). Black Sheep last raced at 27.8kg.

Provision and Black Sheep were slow to begin. Provision and Red Hot Summer collided approaching the first turn checking Red Hot Summer. Lynlaw Andy and Black Sheep collided on the first turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr C Russell, trainer of the greyhound Drafted, which had not raced since 31 May 2016. Mr Russell stated that the greyhound has been spelling.

Super Ricky, Chopstick Walrus and Koori Tess collided soon after the start checking Super Ricky and Chopstick Walrus. Phoenix Czar and Drafted collided on the first turn. Koori Tess and Night Hawk collided on the first turn checking Koori Tess. Koori Tess checked off Drafted entering the back straight checking Koori Tess and Super Ricky. Chopstick Walrus checked off Super Ricky in the back straight. Super Ricky and Chopstick Walrus collided approaching the home turn. Phoenix Czar and Drafted collided approaching the home turn. Super Ricky marred the running of Chopstick Walrus approaching the home severely checking Super Ricky, Chopstick Walrus and Koori Tess which lost ground as a result.

Super Ricky was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left deltoid muscle. A  stand down period of 7 days was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Gibilisco, the trainer of the greyhound Super Ricky regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) Stewards charged Super Ricky with marring. Mr. Gibilisco pleaded guilty to the charge, Super Ricky was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(2)a before any nomination will be accepted.

Jarvis Jet was slow to begin. Ruby Rads and No Worries Buddy collided approaching the home turn checking No Worries Buddy. Yeah Mint and Mister Limbo collided approaching the home turn checking Yeah Mint. Jarvis Jet and No Worries Buddy collided several times in the home straight and approaching the winning post.

Ruby Rads was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right deltoid muscle injury. A stand down period of 14 days was imposed.

Kezzy's Diamond, With A Whisper and Petentim collided soon after the start checking With A Whisper. Petentim checked off Jimmy Flash approaching the first turn. Why Not George, Lettuce Hold On, Just Jatt and Kezzy's Diamond collided approaching the first turn checking Just Jatt and Kezzy's Diamond. Just Jatt, Kezzy's Diamond and With A Whisper collided on the first turn checking Kezzy's Diamond and With A Whisper.

Kezzy's Diamond was vetted following race 11. It was reported that the greyhound sustained split webbing to the left hind paw. A stand down period of 10 days was imposed.

Power Sensation and Fred's My Name were quick to begin. Fred's My Name, Vixyma, Manx Knight and Olympic Lass collided soon after the start. Fred's My Name, Vixyma, Manx Knight, Olympic Lass and Pee Dee collided on the first turn checking Vixyma and Manx Knight. Fred's My Name and Olympic Lass collided entering the back straight. Fred's My Name, Olympic Lass and Lily Latief collided approaching the home turn checking Olypic Lass. Fred's My Name checked off Lily Latief approaching the home turn.

Proven Crown was slow to begin. Max Rocket galloped on the heels of Two Teams Umpire approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Slipaway Simba was quick to begin. My Molly Dolly was slow to begin. Milburn Gold, Swift Bunny, Cheers Bryan and Merlot Magic collided on the first turn checking Cheers Bryan severely checking Merlot Magic which stumbled. Slipaway Simba checked off Baroness Tiffie on the second turn.

Mitch's Delight was quick to begin. Nods One and Cullquin Peachy collided soon after the start checking Cullquin Peachy. Nods One, Survino and Canis Regis collided entering the back straight checking Survino. Split Chic and Rosie's Gift collided on the first turn. Survino checked off Nods One on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Ms S. Quinlan, trainer of the greyhound Cullquin Bomber which had not raced since 20 May 2016. Ms Quinlan stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after recovering from a left metacarpal injury.

Meeting Comments:

Stewards today resumed an inquiry from Friday 26 August 2016 into the greyhounds Eddie Yap and Lektra Khan not having catchers after the running of Race 7. After obtaining further evidence from licensed attendants Mr Billy Ruff, Mr PJ Cullie and Mr R Bromley (who also acted as an adult observer for Mr Ruff and Mr Cullie, who are both minors) and club staff member Mr M Cole, Stewards were satisfied that Mr Ruff had failed to provide a catcher for only one greyhound in the race. 

As a consequence, Stewards issued a warning to Mr Ruff, pursuant to GAR 48.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR77A) :- Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Ellis , the trainer of Cape Shiraz regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Cape Shiraz last raced on 2/10/15. Mr. Ellis stated that the greyhound has had a right stopper injury. Pursuant to GAR 77A Cape Shiraz trialled over the 425mts from box 1, weight 32.4kg, the greyhound was placed 2nd in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 24.51, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 3L. Cape Shiraz was cleared. 

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR77A) :- Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Ellis , the handler of Kitty Hawke regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Kitty Hawke last raced on 1/2/16. Mr. Ellis stated that the greyhound had been in season. Pursuant to GAR 77A Cape Shiraz trialled over the 425mts from box 3, weight 26.8kg, the greyhound was placed 4th in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 24.51, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 16L. Kitty Hawke was cleared.
