Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr D Geall, the trainer of Blue Westmead regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Blue Westmead last raced on 25th March, 2015. Mr Geall stated that the greyhound had been spelled after sustaining a torn tendon in the left shoulder during a trial.
A pre race sample was taken from Apache Tears.
Irish Connection, One Mid and Izumi were slow to begin. Plea For Beer was quick to begin. Blue Westmead and Izumi collided soon after the start. Blue Westmead, One Mid, Izumi and Sir Pendelbury collided on the first turn, checking One Mid and Sir Pendelbury, and severely checking Blue Westmead and Izumi. Sir Pendelbury checked off One Mid approaching the second turn. Blue Westmead checked off Sir Pendelbury on the second turn, causing Blue Westmead to race wide.
Izumi was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left monkey muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
