Ketut's Kaput was vetted and passed fit to run after the greyhound slipped its collar in the parade yard. Stewards spoke to the handler, Mr G Campbell, and reminded him of his responsibilities when securing the greyhound's collar.
Zipping Anna and Noaki Lynx were quick to begin. Mr Fox, Ketut's Kaput, Bovelo and Mechatronic collided soon after the start, checking Ketut's Kaput and Bovelo. Senor Laurie and Sofa So Good collided approaching the first turn, checking Sofa So Good. Mechatronic, Mr Fox and Senor Laurie collided on the first turn, checking Senor Laurie and Sofa So Good. Senor Laurie raced wide on the first turn and collided with Bovelo, resulting in Bovelo being checked. Mr Fox, Mechatronic and Ketut's Kaput collided on the first turn, checking Mechatronic. Senor Laurie, Sofa So Good and Ketut's Kaput raced wide on the home turn.
