Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mrs J Greenough, trainer of Lochinvar Cobra in regards to the extended period of time between the greyhound's races. Lochinvar Cobra last raced on the 17th December, 2014. Mrs Greenough stated that Lochinvar Cobra was returning to race after changing kennels and also having throat surgery (tonsillectomy). Stewards noted Mrs Greenough's explanation.
Reality Girl was quick to begin. Alpha Ares and Magic Max were slow to begin. Dark Obsession and Lochinvar Cobra collided on the first turn, checking Dark Obsession. Alpha Ares raced wide entering the front straight. Sacred Diamons checked off Destinee Saint entering the front straight. Lochinvar Cobra eased on the front straight and lost ground. Destinee Saint and Houston Bale collided on the second turn. Destinee Saint checked off Houston Bale on the third turn. Sacred Diamond and Magic Max collided on the third turn, checking Alpha Ares and severely checking Sacred Diamond. Magic Max checked off Destinee Saint entering the back straight.
A sample was taken from Houston Bale - the winner of the event.
Lochinvar Cobra was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Trainer Mrs. J. Greenough declined to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Mrs. J. Greenough, the trainer of the greyhound Lochinvar Cobra regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the front straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Lochinvar Cobra with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs. Greenough pleaded guilty to the charge, Lochinvar Cobra was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
