Steward's Report
Humming Birdhill was quick to begin. Cornelius Fudge, Heston Lodge, Unsub Andy and Cosmic Owl were slow to begin. Penance Allen and Samus Allen collided soon after the start. Heston Lodge and Unsub Andy collided soon after the start. Cornelius Fudge and Heston Lodge collided entering the back straight, checking Cornelius Fudge, which collided with Unsub Andy. Unsub Andy galloped on the heels of Cornelius Fudge in the back straight, checking both greyhounds. Cornelius Fudge and Samus Allen collided entering the home straight, checking Samus Allen and Cosmic Owl.
Samus Allen was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the left stopper bone, a ten day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Shillington, the handler Samus Allen, with regard to the increase in distance Samus Allen ran over in today's event. Mr. Shillington stated the Samus Allen has run over shorter distances recently to gain fitness and has previously raced at Sandown over 515m. He added that he was unaware if Samus Allen had trialled over a similar distance prior to racing today. Stewards noted his explanation and took no further action.
