Lunar Chief was quick to begin. Dyna Edgar was slow to begin.
Scorching Fella crossed to the rail soon after the start checking Carmalina and Sutton Club. Lunar Chief, Signal Peak and Dixie Anne collided on the first turn checking Dixie Anne and Lunar Chief. Dyna Edgar and Scorching Fella collided on the home turn. Sutton Club, Lunar Chief and Chief Bale collided entering the home straight checking Sutton Club and severely checking Lunar Chief. Dyna Edgar and Dixie Anne collided in the home straight checking Dyna Edgar, causing Dyna Edgar to stumble and lose ground. Carmalina, Lunar Chief, Chief Bale and Scorching Fella raced wide in the home straight.
