Steward's Report
A pre race sample was taken from Zipping Noel.
Avatar Kelso, Oakstar and Royal Cosmic were slow to begin. Spring Bomber and Cee Ya Mate collided on the first turn. Zipping Noel, Oakstar and Royal Cosmic collided on the first turn. Zipping Noel and Oakstar collided in the back straight. Avatar Kelso and Oakstar collided on the second turn severely checking both greyhounds. Spring Bomber and Cee Ya Mate collided on the home turn and several times in the home straight checking both greyhounds which raced wide as a result. Cee Ya Mate marred the running of Spring Bomber in the home straight.
Stewards spoke toMr. J. Abela, the trainer of the greyhound Cee Ya Mate regarding the greyhounds racing manners in home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Cee Ya Mate with marring. Mr. Abela pleaded guilty to the charge, Cee Ya Mate was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Cee Ya Mate was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both triangle muscles. A stand down period of 5 days was imposed.
