Fear The Best was a late scratching at 1:45pm due to illness (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Master Tron was slow to begin. Zelemar Zest and Living Waters collided soon after the start. Blue Mccool and Scunitza Speed collided soon after the start. Living Waters and Scunitza Speed collided approaching the first turn. Living Waters, Scunitza Speed and Master Tron collided on the first turn, checking Living Waters and Scunitza Speed. Living Waters and Scunitza Speed collided approaching the home turn. Zelemar Zest checked off Tiggerlong Katut approaching the home turn. 

A sample was taken from Saahd - winner of the event. 

Major Crush, Gorham Bale and Magic Earner were slow to begin. Tycoon Diamond and Destini Diamond collided soon after the start. Major Crush and Gorham Bale collided soon after the start. Magic Earner, Ninety Five, Destini Diamond and Destini Shadow collided soon after the start, checking Ninety Five and Major Crush. Mo Town San checked off Tycoon Diamond on the first turn and collided with Magic Earner. Magic Earner and Lioness Lulu on the first turn, checking Lioness Lulu. Destini Shadow and Mo Town San collided on the second turn. Mo Town San and Lioness Lulu collided on the second turn. Tycoon Diamond and Magic Earner collided on the second turn. Tycoon Diamond and Gorham Bale collided on the third turn, checking Tycoon Diamond. 

Gorham Bale was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained mild thumps. No stand down period was imposed. 

Paua To Roar was slow to begin. Lunar Eclipse, Tiggerlong Amigo, Elfen Bale and Azza Azza Azza collided soon after the start, checking all four greyhounds. Sonic Dash and Elfen Bale collided approaching the first turn. Lunar Eclipse and Tiggerlong Amigo collided on the first turn, checking Lunar Eclipse. Trail Blazing and Azza Azza Azza collided on the home turn. Elfen Bale checked off Sonic Dash on the home turn. Trail Blazing, Azza Azza Azza and Stop Moochin' collided several times in the home straight, checking Trail Blazing. Elfen Bale checked off Trail Blazing approaching the winning post.

Estranged and Caustic Bale were slow to begin. Gaelic Peter and Estranged collided soon after the start. Gaelic Peter and Athos collided approaching the first turn, checking Gaelic Peter. Caustic Bale checked off Jackie Baxter approaching the home turn and collided with Senor Gold. Senor Gold checked off Estranged approaching the home turn. Gaelic Peter raced wide on the home turn. Jackie Baxter and Senor Gold collided entering the home straight, checking Senor Gold.

Stewards spoke to trainer representative Mrs G. Ennis in regards to Warrior King which had not raced since 19th February 2015. Mrs Ennis stated that the greyhound had been spelling after having a chip removed from a hock.

Call Me Hank was slow to begin. Warrior King and Dyna Villa collided soon after the start, checking Warrior King. Call Me Hank and One Dee collided approaching the home turn, checking Call Me Hank. Bills Back and Dyna Villa collided approaching the home turn. Kraken Soupy failed to pursue the lure in the home straight and collided with One Dee several times, checking One Dee. 

Stewards spoke to Mr N.Jones, the handler of the greyhound Kraken Soupy regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Kraken Soupy was vetted and re-vetted following the event 8. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a grade 1 tear to the left pencil muscle, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Kraken Soupy with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Jones pleaded guilty to the charge, Kraken Soupy was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

Midnight Flynn, Luca Neveelk, Premier Hawk and Danyo's Slappy collided soon after the start, checking Luca Neveelk. Lektra Utopia and Spring Missile collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn, checking Lektra Utopia. Midnight Flynn, Premier Hawk and Danyo's Slappy collided on the first turn, checking Premier Hawk. Midnight Flynn checked off Danyo's Slappy approaching the home turn. Lektra Utopia, Danyo's Slappy and Phaser Bale collided in the home straight, checking Danyo's Slappy and Phaser Bale. Phaser Bale cramped in the home straight. 

Phaser Bale was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound cramped. No stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr J.Collins, the handler of the greyhound Phaser Bale. Acting in accordance with GAR 71 (Cramp), Stewards directed that the greyhound must perform a Satisfactory Trial before any future nomination will be accepted.

A sample was taken from Shared Equity - winner of the event. 

Stewards spoke to trainer Mr T. O'Donovan in regards to Droopys Bentley, which had not raced since 28 February 2015. Mr O'Donavan stated that the greyhound had been spelling after having abdominal surgery.

Kid Audacious, Lamia Bale and Pappa Gallo were quick to begin. Breathing Fire and Shared Bonus collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn. Breathing Fire and Shared Bonus collided on the first turn, checking Shared Bonus and Dewana Result. Lektra Outlaw and Dewana Result collided approaching the home turn, checking Lektra Outlaw.

Fernado Bale was quick to begin. Deadly Vane checked off Crackerjack Dak approaching the first turn. Crackerjack Dak, West On Dally and Our Zayney Nash collided on the first turn, checking Crackerjack Dak and Deadly Vane. Dear Darcey checked off Mighty Sprite approaching the home turn. Mighty Sprite tired over the concluding stages of the event. 

Stewards spoke to Mr S.Ralph, handler of Mighty Sprite regarding the greyhounds performance over the concluding stages, Mr Ralph stated that the greyhound has been racing over shorter trips and it was the greyhounds first start over the 425m this evening and raced to his expectations. Stewards noted the explanation of Mr Ralph. Mighty Sprite was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained spike wounds to the left hind. No stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Fernado Bale - winner of the event in a new track record time of 23.386.

Stewards spoke to trainer Mr P. Ryder in regards to Shot To Bits which had not raced since 28 February 2015. Mr Ryder stated that the greyhound had strained its hock ligaments at its start in November 2014, and after having spell was injured at its start in February. Mr Ryder stated that he then spelled the greyhound after that run and that the greyhound had since been trialling well.

Alpha Zeus, Ronray Spirit and Tammy Baxter were quick to begin. Shot To Bits, Margins and Ultima Bale were slow to begin. Alpha Zues, Ronray Spirit and Tammy Baxter collided approaching the first turn, checking Alpha Zues. Ronray Spirit and Tammy Baxter collided on the first turn and again approaching the home turn. Schumacher galloped on the heels of Tammy Baxter approaching the home turn. Schumacher and Tammy Baxter collided approaching the home turn. Bing's Bro raced wide in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to trainer Mr M. Carter in regards to Smokem Jimmy which had not raced since 23rd Febraury 2015. Mr Carter stated that the greyhound was a recent addition to to his kennels and that it had been recovering from a hip injury.

Amaro Bale was quick to begin. Smokem Jimmy and Gaucho collided soon after the start. Bejay The Dejay, Reckless Brown and Mepunga Armagh collided approaching the first turn, checking Reckless Brown and Bejay The Dejay. Smokem Jimmy checked off Reckless Brown approaching the first turn and collided with Bejay The Dejay. Reckless Brown checked off Gaucho on the first turn. Dyno Nico and Gaucho collided approaching the home turn. Gaucho and Berzerk collided entering the home straight. Bejay The Dejay and Smokem Jimmy collided in the home straight.

Be Hopeful was slow to begin. Kaitoke Diamond, Optimus Bart and Why Not Wayne collided soon after the start, checking Kaitoke Diamond and Optimus Bart. Be Hopeful eased on the first turn and collided with Kaitoke Diamond, checking Kaitoke Diamond and Optimus Bart. Be Hopeful checked off Kaitoke Diamond on the second turn. Esparza checked off Jamiela Twist approaching the home turn. Esparza and Why Not Wayne collided on the home turn and again in the home straight. 

Stewards spoke to Mr A.Mooney, the trainer of the greyhound Be Hopeful regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. Be Hopeful was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an right shoulder injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Be Hopeful with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Mooney pleaded guilty to the charge, Be Hopeful was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a),  before any future nomination will be accepted.

Punch It was quick to begin. Tiggerlong Fox was slow to begin. Navaho checked off Sisco Fiasco on the first turn. He's No Jet and Dundas Boy collided on the first turn. Tiggerlong Fox galloped on the heels of He's No Jet entering the back straight. Navaho and Hula collided approaching the home turn. 

Meeting Comments:

Satisfactory Trial Results - Phil's In Luck trialled over the 425m from box 1, weight 31.8kg, the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of four starters. The time of the trial was 24.48, the greyhound won by a margin of 5.5 lengths. Phil's In Luck was cleared.
