A pre-race sample was taken from Segla upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.

Segla was slow to begin. Superstar Jatt and Scarce collided approaching the first turn checking Scarce. Elram Girl, Bopa Allen and Best Shared collided approaching the first turn checking Bopa Allen. Elram Girl, Best Shared and Jesterday collided on the first turn checking Elram Girl. Elram Girl checked off Bopa Allen approaching the home turn and collided with Splish Splashin'; Elram Girl was severely checked and lost considerable ground as a result. Best Shared checked off Jesterday in the home straight.
Elram Girl was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
